May 7

Alaska Wildlife Troopers at 11:40 a.m. received a report of people sport fishing from a boat within the king salmon conservation area near the mouth of the Anchor River. Troopers cited a 52-year-old Sterling man for sport fishing in closed waters.

A caller at 9:32 a.m. asked for information regarding noise restrictions.

A person at 11:51 a.m. turned in a found credit card.

A man at 12:22 p.m. came to the police station and reported an unknown car parked at his Hohe Street home.

A caller at 2:16 p.m. reported a hit-and-run car crash in a Spit parking lot.

Georgie Piatkoff, 24, acquitted after trial, felony DUI; charge dismissed, driving with a canceled, suspended, revoked, or limited license.

Trooper Report

May 11

Alaska State Troopers at 5:24 p.m., Anchor Point-based troopers conducted a traffic stop on a white 1990 Chevrolet truck on Oilwell Road near Kingsley Road for multiple traffic violations. An investigation revealed the driver, a 53-year-old man, was operating the vehicle under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Troopers arrested the driver for driving under the influence and transported him to the Homer Jail where he was held pending arraignment.

A caller at 8:48 a.m. reported signs of unlocked vehicles being searched in the night on El Sarino Court, however nothing was taken. 

A man came to the station at 9:36 a.m. to report items stolen from unlocked vehicles on Lee Drive.

A caller at 10:20 a.m. reported that unlocked vehicles on Mountainview Drive were tampered with during the night.

A caller at 10:40 a.m. reported a theft from a parking lot of Skyline Drive and Glacierview Court after the fact.

Criminal Court

Burton D. Cameron, 48, Seldovia, two counts of assault in the fourth degree.

Tyler James Ledger Hecks, 18, Seldovia, two counts of felony burglary two; two counts of theft — less than $250.

Lawrence Hill, 63, Homer, theft — less than $250; criminal trespassing upon premises.

Howard Lee Manser, 57, Anchor Point, assault four — causing fear of injury.

Trooper Report

May 7

Alaska State Troopers at 7:18 p.m. conducted a traffic stop near mile 162 of Sterling Highway. Investigation revealed that a man was operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to Anchor Point Trooper Post, where he refused to provide a breath sample. He was transported to Homer Jail where he was remanded on charges of DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

A caller at 7:18 a.m. reported a suspicious vehicle on Pennock Street.

A caller at 10:02 a.m. reported a burglary attempt on Main Street.

A caller at 11:40 a.m. reported a suspicious man at a park on Karen Hornaday Road. 

A caller at 11:46 a.m. reported a suspicious vehicle on Ben Walters Lane and
Hilfair Court.

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians went to seven medical calls and one fire call.

Zachary Patrick Kankanton, 24, Ninilchik, assault in the 4th degree.

April 23

Alaska State Troopers at 10:38 p.m. located a 31-year-old Oregon man at a local beach in the Homer area. The man had an active warrant for his arrest after failing to appear in court for the original charge of driving with no motor vehicle liability insurance. He was arrested and transported to the Homer Jail where he was held on $250 bail.

April 25

A caller at 9:40 a.m. reported an assault on Diamond Creek Place.

A caller at 11:29 a.m. reported the theft of a vehicle on Sterling Highway. The vehicle was returned to the owner.

April 26

A caller at 4:08 p.m. reported a dog bite on Ocean Drive.
