HB 115: multi-pronged taxation

I am suffering from pre-enactment anxiety over HB 115. Here is why.

What HB 115 is not is a creation of a specific fund for education, as that cannot be done. No sources of revenue can be dedicated to any particular expenditure. Very clever of the House Democrats, led by Mr. Seaton, to attempt to snooker the under-informed by giving HB 115 the phony short title, “Education Funding Act.” Oh stop; I know he has an “R” by his name, he is about as much an “R” as Bernie Sanders.

Here’s what’s happening in Juneau

Since I don’t see much reporting about what is happening in Juneau, let me attempt to illuminate.

The muskrat coalition, let by Paul Seaton and Gabrielle LeDoux, is frittering away Alaska’s future. Currently, our annual budget is approximately $5.5 billion, and we are about $3.3 billion short in revenue. With no mind for the future, they are attempting to balance our over-bloated government, not by trimming the budget to match the current revenue, but rather through the wallets of every man, woman and child resident.

Anchor Point saga continues

Time for an update on the continuing saga of our Anchor Point heroine. It has been 14 months since it started, and in spite of dishonorable politicians and incompetent borough staff, our heroine is still fighting the good fight, continuing to serve our community with honor and integrity and a sense of duty that is made all the more striking by the complete lack of honor, integrity and duty from our elected officials.
