Chamber plans events

The Homer Chamber of Commerce has several events planned in the next few weeks:

n The next chamber mixer will be from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 29. It is hosted by North Wind Home Collections, 173 W. Pioneer Ave. For more information, contact Debbie Speakman at 235-7740. The public is invited.

n The chamber will host a Christmas Tree Lighting event from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Homer Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center. Santa Claus will flip the switch, officially welcoming in Christmas at 6 p.m. There will be caroling, s’mores, hot chocolate and holiday merriment, says the chamber.

n The chamber’s car raffle drawing will be Dec. 6. Tickets are still for sale.

Being raffled off is $25,000 toward the purchase of a car at Stanley Ford of Kenai or $15,000 cash. The other big prize is a new Honda ATV Rancher. Tickets are $100 for the car, $35 for the ATV or $130 for a combo ticket.

Proceeds from the raffle help sponsor such events as the winter carnival, cleanup day, the July 4 parade and benefit the annual Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival.

The ticket-drawing party will be held at the visitor center at 6 p.m. Dec. 6, with every 25th ticket winning a prize. Tickets are available at the centers or from board members.
