HCOA announces arts awards

The Homer Council on the Arts announced its annual arts awards at its annual meeting last Wednesday, June 6. In a press release on June 8, HCOA director Peggy Paver announced the winners. The awards are now named in honor of arts leaders who have made a difference in the community, Paver said.

First Friday

Shorebirds, cranes and other spring birds also have begun to arrive. Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival featured artist Erin Rae shows her whimsical paintings and illustrations of birds at the Homer Council on the Arts. An artist with an intimate relationship with birds, Rae’s work expresses not just the vision of birds, but the landscapes they live in.

Bunnell announces co-leadership change

In a new shared leadership model, Bunnell Streets Arts Center founding artistic and executive director Asia Freeman will become artistic leader and assistant director Adele Person will become executive director, the Homer arts center announced in a press release last week. The new relationship makes formal a model Freeman and Person explored and practiced in 2017.
