Roush offers cold-wax workshop
Homer artist Karen Roush presents a workshop in cold-wax painting from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Homer Council on the Arts. Students will learn the basic concepts and techniques of oil/cold wax painting, and to incorporate other media including oil pigment sticks, pencils, charcoal, powdered pigments, and oil pastel. Techniques include methods of application, building depth and texture, and unique mark-making. Students will have plenty of time to create their own samples for future use as well as create one or more pieces. The workshop structure is relaxed and appropriate for artists at all levels. Celebrate spring with Crane Teachings
Celebrate the birds return by joining local environmental artist Mavis Muller in a two-hour workshop called Crane Teachings: Inspiration & Insight from the Majestic Migratory Sandhill Cranes. Muller has written and illustrated the workbook which comes with 20 color flash cards. Classes are held 1-3 p.m. on May 10, 11, 12, 13 from at her Cranehaven Studio of Art & Nature, 58335 Cranewings Court, Homer. The cost is $35; keep your workbook.
