‘Circus Auditions’ opens this weekend

A new musical comedy production, “Circus Auditions,” opens this weekend. Written by Sally Oberstein and Michael McKinney and directed by Sally Oberstein, it is produced by Ken Castner and Homer Nutcracker Productions. Shows are 7:30 p.m. April 15, 21 and 22 and 3 p.m. April 22 at the Mariner Theatre. Tickets are adults, $15 in advance or $20 at the door, and children, $10 in advance or $15 at the door, on sale at the Homer Bookstore. “Circus Auditions” brings music, humor and love to the Mariner Theater stage with 40 talented actors, singers, dancers and musicians.

What happens when all the performers and animals from Spalding Family Circus end up in Alaska instead of Arkansas? Seasoned roustabouts have 48 hours to create a circus with spazazz. They’ll sing, dance and clown it up, enacting the heartwarming story of Sparkle, Sparrow and Spofford Spalding, and the lies and love that save the circus.
