Local graduate heads to Coast Guard academy
The United States Coast Guard Academy has announced that Kane A. Graham of Homer has accepted an appointment to attend the Coast Guard Academy and will be sworn in as a member of the class of 2022 on July 2. Graham attended Homer Connections.
He is the son of Dulcinea and Stephen Overdorf of Homer. His grandparents are Martha and Michael Murray of Homer, and Rhonda and Wade Wade Overdorf of Cicero, Indiana.
The Coast Guard Academy, located in New London, Connecticut awards 400 appointments from an annual applicant pool of about 2,200. Cadets receive a full tuition scholarship and monthly stipend for a five-year service commitment to the Coast Guard when they graduate.
